The following is material that formed part of Renzo Isabella’s presentation at the 18th Real Estate Summit, the leading annual professional development seminar given to real estate lawyers in Ontario. This presentation was given on April 19, 2021.
Renzo’s presentation consisted mostly of advice to other real estate lawyers with respect to navigating non-resident withholding tax issues as smoothly as possible.
Of particular note, the presentation contained a set of questions to and answers from the Canada Revenue Agency on some common issues lawyers face when dealing with holdbacks in the context of real estate transactions.
